Fitness Programs


The Fairfax Parks & Recreation Department is working to bring fitness and wellness opportunities to the Fairfax community. These programs are financed through program fees and are open to the community.

Participation will impact what programs are offered in the future. The entire community is welcomed and encouraged to participate in the planning and developing all recreation program offerings. Fitness Boot Camp

Adults

Registration: Not required
Date: Mondays & Thursdays
Time: 6:30–7:30pm
Location: BFA Fairfax Middle School Gym; please use High School entrance
Fee: $7 per class

Never boring and always an adventure, classes include resistance training and cardiovascular execcise such as running (short distances), push-ups, sprints, lunges, jumping jacks, jump roping, kickboxing, streching, cone drills, obstacle courses, and whatever else it takes to distract participants from the fact they’re getting a great workout.

  • Designed for both men and women who want something different and want results.
  • Please bring plenty of water, a towel or yoga mat, and light weights (optional).  It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and sturdy running shoes that are not too worn.

Kripalu Hatha Yoga and Meditation

All fitness levels; ages 14 & up

Beyond the significant physical benefits of improved strength, flexibility, & balance, yoga leads to over all health & well being, and is appropriate for people of all ages, gender & physical ability. Each class will include centering, warm-up (pratapana), yoga postures (asana), yogic breathing (pranayama), relaxation (yoga nidra), and integration. As is the nature of Kripalu yoga, compassionate self awareness will be emphasized and students will be guided through details of alignment of each posture with hands-on assisting as needed.

  • Please bring a yoga mat.

Zumba

All fitness levels; ages 14 & up
